How to Upgrade Firmware on a COVA Recorder
This article will outline how to locate the Upgrade screen, download the latest firmware from the Digital Watchdog website, and install it on your COVA recorder.
Supported/Affected Devices:
- DW-COVA4 / DW-COVA8 / DW-COVA16
Resolution:
Note: Do not close the browser or power off the recorder during the upgrade process. The recorder will reboot automatically once the upgrade is complete.
Part 1 — Open the Upgrade Screen
- Navigate to the COVA Home page and click Settings.
- The General → System page opens by default. Scroll down to locate the Upgrade section.
Part 2 — Download the Firmware
- In a new browser tab, navigate to www.digital-watchdog.com.
- Search for your COVA model and open the product page.
- Click the Software tab.
- Click the firmware file for your model to expand the download options.
- Click Download to save the firmware file to your computer.
Part 3 — Install the Firmware
- Return to the COVA web client Upgrade screen. Click Browse and locate the downloaded firmware file on your computer.
- Confirm the correct firmware file is displayed in the field. Click Upgrade.
- Enter your admin credentials when prompted and click OK.
- The upload progress will display as: Uploading: X% — wait for the upload to complete.
- The recorder will log out automatically and reboot once the upgrade is complete. Click OK and wait for the process to finish before logging back in.
