How to Search Footage Using History in COVA

This article will outline how to use both the Thumbnail View and By Event search modes in the History tab.

Supported/Affected Devices:

• DW-COVA4 / DW-COVA8 / DW-COVA16

Resolution:

Part 1 — Open the History Tab

1. Navigate to the COVA Home page and click History to access the search panel.

2. The tab contains two views: Thumbnail View and By Event.

Part 2 — Thumbnail View: Run a Search

3. Click the Thumbnail View tab.

4. Select a camera from the drop-down.

Tip: Click a camera in the multichannel viewing area to pre-select it for the search.

5. Select a date using the date picker.

6. Click Search.

Part 3 — Thumbnail View: Browse and Drill Down

7. Results display as a 2-column hourly grid for the full selected day.

8. Click any hour thumbnail to drill down into 10-minute intervals.

9. Click any 10-minute thumbnail to drill down into minute-by-minute intervals.

10. Click any minute-level thumbnail to open that footage in the main viewing panel.

11. Click Go Back at any level to return to the previous interval.

Part 4 — By Event: Search and Open Results

12. Click the By Event tab.

13. Select a camera from the drop-down.

14. Select a date using the date picker.

15. Use the All Events drop-down to filter by All Events, Motion, or Sensor.

16. Click Search.

17. Results display as thumbnails with date and time stamps.

18. Click any thumbnail to open that footage in the main viewing panel.

Note: Human and Vehicle detection events are not available in History — use the IdentiSee tab for AI-based search.
