How to Configure PTZ Camera Presets in COVA

Managing PTZ Cameras for COVA Recorders

This article will outline how to open the PTZ control panel, move the camera, adjust movement speed, and manage presets.

Supported/Affected Devices:

DW COVA Recorder Series

• DW-COVA4
• DW-COVA8
• DW-COVA16

Resolution:

COVA's web client lets you remotely pan, tilt, and zoom supported PTZ cameras directly from your browser — no additional software needed. You can also save specific camera positions as presets for quick, one-click access during monitoring.

NOTE: PTZ Control is only available for supported motorized IP cameras. If the PTZ button is grayed out, your camera does not support this feature. DW-COVA users must use the ONVIF protocol for PTZ Control. 

Part 1 — Open the PTZ Control Panel

1. Navigate to the COVA Home page.

2. Click the PTZ Control button in the toolbar below the timeline. The PTZ control panel will appear.

Part 2 — Move the Camera

1. Use the arrow buttons to pan and tilt the camera to your desired position.

2. On supported cameras, use the + and – buttons to adjust:
   • Zoom — in or out
   • Focus — sharpen or soften the image
   • Iris — open or close to adjust light exposure

Part 3 — Adjust Movement Speed

1. Click the gear icon to open the speed settings panel.

2. Use the speed bar to set how fast the camera moves when the arrow buttons are pressed.

Part 4 — Manage Presets

Presets allow you to save specific camera positions and return to them instantly.

1. Click the gear icon to open the preset panel.

2. To call a preset: Select it from the drop-down menu and click "Call." The camera will move to that position.

3. To save a new preset: Move the camera to the desired position, then click "+" followed by "Save."

4. To delete a preset: Select it from the drop-down menu and click "Delete."
