COVA Configuration Backup through myDW
COVA recorder configuration files are now automatically backed up to myDW daily at 12:00 PM UTC. In case the recorder needs to be factory defaulted or replaced, the configuration file will be available from myDW’s Maintenance tab, even if the recorder is offline and inaccessible.
NOTE: The configuration backup includes all COVA system settings except myDW registration information. After importing a configuration, the myDW registration process must be completed again manually.
This article outlines the steps to download and import a COVA’s configuration file into your recorder.
To download a COVA’s configuration files, the recorder must have already been added to the EU organization for at least one day. If you need assistance, please review: 1.2 Register a COVA Recorder in myDW with the DW Mobile+ app | myDW Help Center
NOTE: A configuration file cannot be imported on the physical hardware via USB. This action must be taken directly from the COVA’s webpage via public/private IP and port from a PC and browser.

COVA Configuration File Handling
Step 1 – Downloading the Configuration File
- In myDW web portal, log into the EU organization (org.) and click on “Maintenance” in the left-hand panel.
- Click “COVA Config Download”.
- Click the Download button to the right of the recorder to download the .bin file.
The configuration file may automatically save to your computer’s Downloads folder. Click your browser’s Downloads icon at the top right or press CTRL+J on your keyboard.
NOTE: A popup will automatically appear showing how to import the configuration file. You may click the Web link to be routed to your recorder. If the link is broken or myDW cannot communicate with the COVA recorder, use DW IP Finder and a web browser to discover the recorder.
Step 2 – How to Import the COVA Configuration
- Access the COVA’s webpage.
If you are setting up a new COVA unit, or if the COVA has been factory defaulted, find the recorder on the LAN using DW IP Finder. The default IP for a COVA is 192.168.1.200, but this may differ depending on your network’s DHCP settings.
- Once you access the COVA’s webpage, set up an admin password and language as you would a brand-new unit. You can skip myDW registration and camera registration for now.
- Log in as admin and go to Settings > Utility.
- Under Import System Configuration, select Browse to open your file explorer. Select your COVA’s configuration .bin file and click Open. Then click Import and enter the admin credentials.
Step 3 – Re-Register the COVA in myDW
⚠️ Important: The configuration backup does not include myDW registration information. Once the import is complete, go to Network > myDW and register the COVA to the EU organization. Due to authentication, the configuration will not register with the EU organization automatically.
