Camera Alarm Events
In addition to regular monitoring, the DWC-INTCAM02 Intercom Door Station can be integrated with a VMAX G4 recorder to notify users through the DW Mobile Plus smartphone application. When the DWC-INTCAM02 camera has an event alarm triggered by motion or by an analytic event rule, the VMAX G4 will send a push notification to the user’s phone to alert about the event.
This article will guide you through the set up mobile push notifications in DW Mobile Plus for integration of a DWC-INTCAM02 and VMAX G4 network video recorder.
- Part 1: Connect DW Mobile Plus to VMAX G4
- Part 2: Enable Mobile Push Notifications
- Part 3: Enable Mobile Notify
- Part 4: Enable Camera Alarm
NOTE: The DW Mobile Plus application does not support two-way audio. The mobile application also does not support the implementation of the Door Lock/Unlock access control feature.
NOTE: The following instructions are provided with the assumption that the reader has already registered their DWC-INTCAM02 camera to their VMAX G4 recorder, prior to using the following guide.
Supported/Affected Devices:
- VMAX G4 Recorder Series (DW-VG4xxTxP)
- DW Door Station Camera (DWC-INTCAM02)
Preparation and Setup
Part 1: Connect DW Mobile Plus to VMAX G4
If you have not already done so, connect your DW Mobile Plus application with your VMAX G4 recorder.
You can do so by using the myDW Health Monitoring Service, the Pathfinder connection service, or by using a DDNS or IP address for direct connection.
- Launch the DW Mobile Plus application and select “Create a New Site”.
- When creating a new site, you can either use a direct connection option or use a myDW account to link the VMAX to your mobile application.
Direct Connection
Enter the connection information from the recorder. This information can be found in the Network Settings of the VMAX recording unit.
- Name – enter a name/title to identify the site in DW Mobile Plus.
- Host – enter the direct connection address (IP address, DDNS) for the VMAX G4.
- Port – enter the TCP/IP Port value for the VMAX G4 recorder.
- Login/Password – enter the login credentials for the VMAX G4 recorder.
myDW Connection
If you have registered your VMAX G4 recorder to myDW for remote management and health monitoring, tap “Log in to myDW” when creating your site.
Part 2: Enable Mobile Push Notifications
To receive alerts from the camera and VMAX recorder in DW Mobile Plus, you must enable the “Push Notifications” feature in the mobile application and the “Mobile Notify” feature in the VMAX recorder.
1. Connect with your VMAX recorder in DW Mobile Plus and establish a Live connection.
2. While viewing the site, open the Menu (⋮) and select “Push Notification”.
3. Toggle the Push Notification slider into the activated position then close the Menu.
For more instructions on how to enable Push Notifications, you can refer to the following article:
Part 3: Enable Mobile Notify
After adding the VMAX G4 site to your application and enabling the Push Notification feature in DW Mobile Plus, you must enable the Mobile Notify feature directly at the VMAX recorder.
- In the VMAX recorder’s interface, right-click and select “Menu.”
- Navigate to the Network > Mobile Notify menu.
Use the checkbox to enable the “Use Mobile Notify” setting. All mobile clients that have registered the recorder and enabled push notifications in the mobile application will be listed in this menu.
NOTE: The Sensor event type must be enabled for mobile notifications within the VMAX’s Mobile Notify window to use sensor alerts from the DWC-INTCAM02 camera.
- Click the “Save” button to apply all changes.
Part 4: Enable Camera Alarm
Next, directly at the VMAX recorder, you must enable the Camera Alarm feature for this setup.
- In the VMAX recorder’s interface, right-click and open the Menu.
-
Navigate to the Alarm > Camera Alarm menu.
In the “CAM” column, locate the camera channel to which the DWC-INTCAM02 camera is assigned to by the VMAX recorder. Use the dropdown and select “ON.”
- Configuring the other Camera Alarm settings is optional.
- ON/OFF – set the activation status for incoming alerts from the camera.
- Relay – assign a relay number used to set event rule triggers.
- Dwell – set the time duration of the alarm.
- Pre-Alarm – set how much time before the event occurred to bookmark in the recorder log.
- Motion Area – set the detection area for motion sense recognition.
- Click “Save” to apply the settings.
Part 5: Set Recording Schedule
Set the camera channel to record using one of the following modes:
- Sensor – recording is triggered by a camera sensor (line crossing, object recognition, etc.) alert.
- Continuous + Sensor – recording is triggered by a camera sensor. When the camera is idle, the camera will record video at a low resolution/quality to reduce storage consumption.
- Motion + Sensor – recording is triggered by a camera sensor or by motion detection.
Summary
If you have followed all parts of the guide above, your VMAX recorder will now recognize incoming camera sensor alerts and respond by sending Push Notifications to users.
If you have assigned a DWC-INTCAM02 Doorbell Station Camera that was integrated with your VMAX recorder, notifications will be sent to DW Mobile Plus who have enabled Push Notifications for DW Mobile Plus.
