TeamViewer Remote Management

DW Blackjack Server Series products come pre-installed with software applications and background programs that have been deemed to be necessary tools for the idealized user experience. This often includes a lite version of TeamViewer, which can be used to provide unattended access for system administrators to remotely manage the Blackjack Server when needed.

However, there are some DW Blackjack products that do not come with this program installed when it has been determined that the program interferes with the overall integrity of the system and its ability to perform its primary functions as a secure recording server.

This article will outline how to install TeamViewer on a DW Blackjack Server.

**NOTE:  Digital Watchdog Technical Support does not support or troubleshoot issues related to third-party software failing to install or run properly on any system as these instances are often unnecessary for the DW Blackjack product to run properly for its intended purpose as determined by the manufacturer. Technical Support advises to instead contact the software developer for any issues regarding programs that do not already come with the server. For any issues regarding the full version of the TeamViewer software, please contact TeamViewer’s Technical Support team. Only contact DW Technical Support for issues regarding DW hardware or software applications that are originally provided by Digital Watchdog.

For more information regarding this policy, you may refer to the DW Blackjack Servers and 3rd Party Software Disclaimer.

Supported/Affected Devices:

  • DW Blackjack® Server Series

Remote Technical Support

Before installing the full version of TeamViewer, check to see if your DW Blackjack Server already has the lite version of the application. If it does not have the lite version, you can download and use the Quick Support version that is provided through the DW Technical Support resources.

TeamViewer Full Client for Windows

To install TeamViewer for Windows:

  1. Open a web browser and visit the TeamViewer website then select the Windows version of the software.
  2. Locate “TeamViewer Full Client” and select the correct bit version for your computer. Most modern computers will use an x64-bit version but check your system information if you are unsure.

  1. After downloading the TeamViewer_Setupx64 (or x32) installation file, run the TeamViewer installation wizard.

Select the preferred method of installation then click “Accept”. Allow the installation wizard to run and accept the EULA license agreement.

The TeamViewer desktop client will then be ready for use.

TeamViewer for Ubuntu Linux

DW Blackjack Servers using Ubuntu Linux come with specific repositories disabled by default. The purpose for this is to limit background downloads from occurring without the administrator’s consent and to increase security.

To enable the repositories and install TeamViewer for Ubuntu:

  1. From the desktop, open the Software & Updates application.

  1. In the Software and Updates application, enable the following settings:
    • Canonical-supported free and open-source software (main)
    • Community-maintained free and open-source software (universe)

  1. Open the Terminal application (CTRL+ALT+T), and enter the following commands:

sudo su

**NOTE:  The default root administrator password is “Dw5pectrum”. The characters will be hidden while entering the password.

sudo apt-get update -y

sudo apt-get install -y libminizip1

  1. Download and run the Teamviewer_xx.deb installation file from the Ubuntu Linux version from the TeamViewer website.

Move the .deb installation file to the desktop then use the command:

sudo dpkg –i teamviewer

  1. After installation has completed, launch the TeamViewer application to confirm that the program has installed successfully.
