Issue Overview

ONVIF Login Credentials

Recent reports of authentication issues regarding DW MEGApix V-Class and Mx95 Series IP cameras have been investigated and a conclusion has been reached.

Camera passwords that are changed using DW IP Finder will update the camera login but will not update the ONVIF stream password. This includes updating either individual cameras or while using the Bulk Password Assignment feature of DW IP Finder.

Explanation

V-Class and Mx95 Series cameras use separate camera login credentials from ONVIF stream credentials. Because DW Spectrum IPVMS relies upon ONVIF communication to auto-discover, add, and communicate with DW MEGApix IP cameras, any inconsistency between the ONVIF and camera login credentials poses an authentication issue where the DW Spectrum System can add the camera but is unable to access/display the video stream. In some cases, DW Spectrum may lose connection with the camera.

Solution Options

Option 1:

When initially connecting with the camera’s web interface, the administrator will be prompted to set a new login password for the camera. If a camera has already been configured with a customized administrator password, defaulting the camera then refresh the connection with the camera. You will then be prompted to configure the password again.

Changing the password through this process will simultaneously change both the camera login and the ONVIF stream login.

Option 2:

Manually change the ONVIF password in the Network > ONVIF menu.

It is recommended to match the ONVIF login with the camera’s standard login to allow DW Spectrum to both detect and stream the camera.

**NOTE:  If another user is added to the camera, other than the administrator profile, an additional ONVIF user (non-admin) will need to be added to the camera as well.

Additional Note

If DW Spectrum is still encountering an authentication issue after changing credentials for the camera, be sure to check the Camera Settings > Authentication setting in DW Spectrum.
