Re: DW VMAX Known Issue
DW VMAX Security Bulletin
-----------------------------------
Dear DW Partners and Customers,
At Digital Watchdog, the security of your systems and the trust you place in our products are our highest priorities. We are writing to tell you about a security issue we identified on certain VMAX systems running a previous firmware version.
What We've Found
Some affected units may beep continuously and stop responding. Our investigation indicates these malfunctions may be linked to malware or unauthorized access.
Affected Models
System |
Affected Firmware |
| VMAX IP G4 | 1.5.6.1. or earlier |
| VMAX IP Plus | 1.5.6.1 or earlier |
| VMAX IP G4N | 1.6.0.16 or earlier |
| VMAX A1 G4 | 1.0.1.67 or earlier |
| VMAX A1 Plus | 1.0.13.11 or earlier |
Known Issue Notice
A potential XSS vulnerability has been brough forward for VMAX recorders that use older versions of jQuery.
This potential security concern has been noted in the past and developers have already implemented defenses against the relevant vulnerabilities. As a result, even though older jQuery components are still present, there are currently no exposed vectors through which an attacker could directly execute malicious scripts.
Developers are actively developing a new web interface that removes jQuery dependency completely and is currently undergoing testing.
What We Are Doing
We take every potential security issue seriously and are acting quickly to protect your installations.
If your VMAX unit shows these symptoms, contact us and we will replace it right away.
