The new Face Recognition series paired with COVA's IdentiSee integration allows operators to enable face recognition per camera channel, search detection history by profile list type, and review associated recordings — all from within the COVA recorder interface. This article covers IdentiSee channel configuration, detection search, and playback review.
Note: Face profiles (Allow Lists and Block Lists) are managed through the camera's local web interface, not through COVA. Configure face profiles before using IdentiSee search.
Part 1: Configure Face Recognition Channels in IdentiSee
IdentiSee settings are configured per camera channel on the COVA recorder. Enable Face detection only on channels where a face recognition camera is installed.
- Log in to myDW and open the Recorders section from the left navigation.
- Locate the target recorder and click Web to open its COVA web interface.
- Click Settings, then click IdentiSee in the left panel.
- Open the Camera Channels dropdown and select the channel connected to the face recognition camera.
- Check Enable, then under Detection Target, check Face.
- Click Apply.
- Repeat steps 4–6 for each channel with a face recognition camera installed.
Part 2: Search Face Detection Results
Use the IdentiSee panel from the COVA Home screen to search detection history by camera channel, time range, and profile list type.
- From the COVA Home screen, click the IdentiSee tab in the right panel to open it.
- Open the Camera Channels dropdown and select the channel to search.
- Set the time range using the dropdown (e.g., Last Hour, Any Time).
- In the Enter group or name field, type a search term to filter results. Use allow for Allow List matches, block for Block List matches, unregistered for faces not in any profile, or a specific profile name to search by individual. Leave blank to view all detections.
- Click Search to display matching face detection results.
- Click any result to view face recognition details, including snapshot time, face ID, profile name, and list type.
Part 3: Review Recordings with Playback
IdentiSee detection results are linked to the recording timeline, allowing operators to jump directly to the moment a face was detected.
- From an IdentiSee result, the main view will jump to the camera's playback at the time of the detection event. Or click any point on the timeline to scrub to that moment.
- Use the event filter toggles at the bottom of the screen (Motion, Human, Vehicle, Bike, Face, Sensor, Continuous) to show or hide specific event types on the recording timeline.
- Toggle individual filters on or off to isolate Face detection events in the timeline for faster review.
