USB Flash Drive Directory

Need help locating your USB Flash Drive? If this is your first time using your new DW Blackjack Server with Ubuntu Linux OS, this article will show you the default file pathing to import or export a DW Spectrum video export, database backup, software/firmware file or other related file with a USB flash drive in Ubuntu.

Supported/Affected Devices:

  • DW Blackjack Servers (Ubuntu Linux)

Locating the USB Flash Drive

Whether creating a video export, database backup, or are trying to import a file to the DW Blackjack Server using an Ubuntu OS (Linux), you will need to know how and where to find USB devices when they are connected to the hardware.

When a USB flash drive is connected to a USB port on the server, the Ubuntu operating system will automatically mount and populate an icon in the Taskbar on the computer desktop. The icon can then be selected to open the USB device.

Otherwise, the USB will be automatically mounted to the computer in the file directory:

/media/<OS username>/<name of USB Device>

For example, a USB connected to a DW Blackjack Bolt Server model might be found in the directory:

/media/dwuser/usb-flash

Example in Ubuntu File Manager

As another example, here is a mounted USB flash drive titled as “B0E3-8EAC” as it would appear using the Ubuntu file manager:

Example in the Ubuntu Command Terminal

If you were using the Command Terminal tool, here is how the file pathing for the USB flash drive above would appear:

Example in Ubuntu Disks Utility

You can also identify the exact path that the USB flash drive is mounted in using the Disks utility.

The Device name and mounted location will appear as so:

Once you have identified the directory pathing for your mounted USB flash drive, you can easily identify and select the device when using the DW Spectrum Client desktop application.
