Deleted Cameras

The View Archive from Deleted Cameras feature allows operators to recover and keep archives from cameras which are no longer in the System for whatever reason - e.g. camera replacement, camera died, etc.

This article will outline how to view the video archives from offline cameras that including those that still appear in the Resource Panel and or cameras that have been recently deleted/removed from the system.

For Cameras That Still Show in the Resource Panel:

A camera that has associated archives stored within a DW Spectrum Server will be shown as offline (with a red x) after the camera has been powered OFF or is otherwise disconnected from the network.

To view the footage archive of the offline camera:

  1. Drag the offline camera from the Resource Panel into the viewing grid. A viewing window will display.

  1. You can view and control the archived footage by directly clicking on the green sections of the Timeline or by using the viewing controls (play, pause, etc.) at the bottom of the client.

While the camera is not currently accessible, it is still in the resource tree and any available footage previous to its offline status can still be reviewed like any other camera.

For Cameras That Do Not Show in the Resource Panel:

To view the footage archive from a camera deleted camera:

  1. From the Resource Panel, right-click on the DW Spectrum Server of the deleted camera and select “Server Settings”.

  1. Click on the “Storage” tab then click on the “Reindex Archive button.

Allow the system to finish scanning the archive. This might take few minutes to few hours, depending on the size of the archive files that are being recovered.

  1. After the index scan process is completed any cameras with associated archives on the target server will appear as offline cameras (with a red x) in the Resource Panel.

Similarly to viewing an offline camera, drag the offline camera from the Resource Panel into the viewing grid. A viewing window will display.

You can view and control the archived footage by directly clicking on the green sections of the Timeline or by using the viewing controls (play, pause, etc.) at the bottom of the client.

This will re-introduce the camera into the tree, updating the index database to include the data from the removed camera to be made accessible again.

Note**: Cameras that have been removed from the tree will still delete recorded chronologically in line with the other devices.  If your camera has not recorded any new data beyond the earliest point of recording, there is no data to reintroduce into the tree for review.
