MEGApix® IVA™ Galaxy IP Cameras
Digital Watchdog now offers as MEGApix® IVA™ Galaxy 4K Vandal Ball IP camera that features a few hardware improvements over its hardware predecessor. The preceding generation of 2.1MP/1080p vandal ball camera (DWC-MVA2WiAT, DWC-MPVA2WiAT) would require the disassembling of the camera housing in order to access the camera’s manual reset button. However, the MEGApix Galaxy 4K camera series makes this easier by relocating the controls as well as adding an SD Card slot (4GB~128GB) and a secondary/test video output.
This article will outline these hardware comparisons.

Hardware Changes
The following hardware improvements have been made with the MEGApix Galaxy vandal ball camera series.
Easier Manual Factory Reset Access
When needing to manually reboot or factory reset the camera, users can locate and press and hold the Reset Button for at least five (5) seconds to return the camera to its factory default settings. When comparing the 2.1MP/1080p vandal ball camera to the IVA 4K vandal ball camera, the location of the camera’s reset button differs:
- The MEGApix 2.1MP/1080p Vandal Ball – this camera series hardware requires the disassembly of the camera housing to access to the camera’s reset button (see image above)
- MEGApix IVA 4K Galaxy Vandal Ball – this camera series hardware does not require the disassembly of the camera housing. Rather, users can open the camera’s external control panel to access the camera’s reset button (see image above)
**NOTE: If you press the Reset button, all setting data will be lost on the camera. Take note of any customized settings prior to performing a factory reset.
SD Card & Test Video Output Additions
In addition to relocating the camera’s factory reset button, the MEGApix IVA 4K Galaxy Vandal Ball IP camera now also features an SD Card slot for local storage function and a secondary video output for use with test monitors (BNC connection) during installation.
To access the camera’s SD Card Slot and/or Secondary/Test Video Output, open the camera’s external control panel.
- SD Card is limited to 4GB~128GB, UHS-I U3 Class 10 models (see below)
- When using the camera’s Secondary/Test Video Output, connect the Test Video Cable that was provided with the camera to a BNC (input) compatible test monitor to view the camera’s point-of-view (POV) during hardware installation
