What is a Bookmark?

A Bookmark is a method of highlighting a segment of the video archive for viewing later.

Bookmarks always have the following information:

Start/End Time – denotes the time marks for the beginning and end of the marked footage.
Name – custom name to label and easily identify the Bookmark.
Description – custom text that represents the captured event.
Tags – list of descriptive words or phrases that can be used when using the Search feature.

Adding Bookmarks

To manually create a Bookmark in the DW Spectrum Client:

While viewing a camera, right-click on the Timeline and select “Mark Selection Start” and “Mark Selection End” or click-and-drag within the Timeline to highlight a section of footage.

To generate Bookmarks using an Event Rule:

Open the System Administration menu and select the Event Rules menu.
Click the Add button and create a new Event Rule.
Configure the Event section of the rule as desired. In the Action section, configure the following:

Do – set to “Bookmark”
At – select the camera(s) whose footage will be included in the Bookmark.
[Optional] Also set on source camera – enable to include the camera that is currently being viewed.
[Optional] Fixed duration – set a length of time for the footage to be Bookmarked.
[Optional] Pre/Post-recording – set an amount of time for footage that will be included in the Bookmarked footage, before and after the Event Rule has been triggered.
[Optional] Tags – add descriptive words that can be used when searching for the Bookmark. Separate Tags with commas.
