The MEGApix® Pano™ 21MP and 48MP camera, referred to as “Panzilla” by some, is a multi-sensor, panoramic IP camera. The design of this panoramic camera features four individual lens modules to produce a 180° view for live area monitoring. While recognizing that it is a powerful piece of equipment, it is a good idea to consider the camera’s video bitrate and the hosting server’s hardware.
DW Blackjack® server units are intentionally designed toward managing and supporting DW Spectrum Systems and camera networks, but like all
This article will list the DW Blackjack® servers that will support a limited number of MEGApix® Pano™ Panzilla cameras.
The maximum number of “Panzilla” (DWC-PZ21M69T, DWC-PZV2M72T) cameras that can be supported by a DW Blackjack unit is determined by the specific model of the DW Blackjack server that is in use. Because the DW Spectrum MediaServer is stitching (linking 4 sensors into a single panoramic image) the DWC-PZ21M69T and DWC-PZV2M72T cameras, requiring the availability of more CPU resources for use than single-sensor cameras. The use of CPU resources will fluctuate and will vary by the complexity of the images, motion detection, noises, streaming parameters, etc.
When using 48-megapixel, 32-megapixel, or 21-megapixel imagers, the recorded file size can be quite large. For example, a 48 MP camera’s file size can be up to 800 MB of data, a 32 MP camera’s file size can be up to 550 MB of data, and a 21 MP camera can be up to 350 MB. Due to the large file size, the read and write I/O cannot support multiple files, as it would need to handle multiple small files – the larger the file size, the more time the I/O will require to read/write to the storage drives. If large files are unable to be processed due to insufficient I/O, DW Spectrum will generate a message to indicate a storage failure.
To determine the maximum number of Panzilla cameras per serve, you may refer to the list below. Exceeding these recommendations may result in performance issues and will likely be met with recommendations to reduce the quantity of cameras, lower the resolution and frame rate, or to add server hardware if support is requested.
The following DW Blackjack® series recorders will support a limited number of MEGApix® Pano™ “Panzilla” cameras.
