Line Crossing Analytics
When paired with the DWC-MTT camera series, the VMAX IP Plus can be configured to log line crossing video analytic events from the camera. This feature can be useful to users who want to search for camera footage when someone crosses a predefined alarm line, in addition to a regular recording schedule.
This article will outline how to enable the line crossing analytics of a DWC-MTT camera and how to search for the footage from the VMAX IP Plus.

Configuring Line Crossing
Camera Setup
Before the VMAX IP Plus can begin logging line crossing events, the analytics settings will need to be configured within the camera.
**NOTE: The following images and guide for camera setup are for the DW MTT camera series. If you are using a newer camera series, you may instead refer to the camera user guide of your camera model. Instructions for using the VMAX IP Plus is in the section that follows the Camera Setup section.
To configure line crossing analytics in the camera:
- Open a web browser and connect with the camera’s web client.
Log in to the camera.
- Default User ID: admin
- Default Password: admin
- Select Config then select Event.
Oelect the Line Crossing interface.
- Enable the line crossing alarm and set an Alarm Holding Time.
- Set your preferred alarm trigger options.
- Alarm Out – if selected, this would trigger an external relay output that is connected to the camera.
- Trigger Snap – if selected the system will capture images on motion detection and save the images on the camera’s SD card (only available for camera models with an SD slot).
- Trigger SD Recording – if selected, video will be recorded on an SD card (only available for camera models with an SD slot).
- Trigger Email – if selected, and Attach Picture is enabled, the captured pictures and triggered event will be sent to the designated email address (requires additional setup in the Email Configuration Interface of the camera).
- Trigger FTP – if selected, and Attach Picture is enabled, the captured pictures will be sent to the FTP server address. Please refer to the camera manual for more details.
- Click Save to apply the settings.
- Click on the Area and Sensitivity tab.
Set the alarm line and the direction of movement. Up to four (4) lines can be added, one at a time.
When setting the Direction:
- A <-> B – the alarm will be triggered when subjects cross over the alarm line from Side B to Side A, or Side A to Side B.
- A -> B – the alarm will be triggered when subjects cross over the alarm line from Side A to Side B.
- A <- B – the alarm will be triggered when subjects cross over the alarm line from Side B to Side A.
- Click Draw button.
Use the mouse to draw an alarm line in the preview window.
Click Stop to stop drawing. If you make an error, click the Clear button to delete the line.
Click Save to apply the changes.
- Select the Schedule tab.
Enable and configure line crossing detection on a schedule. It is recommended to set the schedule for 24 hour coverage for continuous support.
Searching Video Analytics with a VMAX IP Plus
To search the video analytics log for line crossing events using a VMAX IP Plus:
- Log in to the NVR as the administrator. The “admin” credentials are created when initially setting up the recorder.
- Once logged in to the NVR, right-click with the mouse and select “Search”.
Select Video Analytics from the context menu.
- The Video Analytics menu will display.
Select the target date and search the log for events.
Select “Line Crossing” from the event selection. Users can search for individual event types or multiple event types simultaneously.
Click the Search button to generate the event log.
- Select an event from the event list, then click the Play button to playback the event footage.
If you want to save the event list, insert a USB stick and click the Export button to extract a .txt file copy of the list.
