What is the Paxton Net2 DW Spectrum® Plugin?

The DW Spectrum® Paxton Plugin embeds DW Spectrum’s elegant high definition user interface within the Net2 interface.  Users are then able to link any number of cameras with door and alarm points and the embedded client can deliver the DW Spectrum IPVMS smart search, flexible timeline, digital zoom windows, PTZ control, and fisheye camera dewarping functions.

This article will outline how to set up the Paxton Net2 Plugin for use with DW Spectrum® IPVMS.

 

Paxton Plugin Setup Instructions

To install the Paxton Net2 Plugin:

 

Part 1:  Download and Install the DW Spectrum Paxton Plugin

1. Download the needed DW Spectrum Paxton Plugin file.
   • DW Spectrum Paxton Plugin v5.2.37996 (Net2v5 | Net2v6) .ZIP

 

2. After downloading the installation file, double-click on the installation package to begin the installation.  Follow the installation Wizard until the plugin has installed successfully.

 

Part 2:  Configure the Paxton Net2 Access Client

1. Open the Paxton Net2 Access Client and enter your Paxton login.

 

2. Navigate to the Options menu and select “Camera Integration”.

 

3. Click the Add button, then select your system name (DW Spectrum) from the list of camera servers.

 

4. In the Host Name field, enter the IP address or URL of your DW Spectrum Server.

 

5. In the Username field, enter your DW Spectrum username.

In the Password field, enter your DW Spectrum password.

 

6. Click on the Detect tile and allow the program to scan for the cameras connected to the DW Spectrum System.

If your credentials and connection information were correct, you will see a list of cameras from the DW Spectrum System that will be integrated with the Paxton Net2 Access System.

 

7. When ready, click the Apply button, and then click on OK to confirm the integration.

 

8. Next, in the Paxton Net2 Access Client, navigate to the System Tree and select a door or alarm point.

In the main viewing area of the Paxton Net2 Access Client, select the Camera Integration option.  You will then see a list of cameras from the integrated DW Spectrum System.

 

9. Use the checkboxes next to each camera to select the camera(s) that you wish to associate with the door or alarm point that was selected in the previous step.

 

10. Click the Apply button when done to complete the door-camera association process.

 

Part 3:  View Event-Driven Video in Paxton Net2 Client

1. In the Paxton Net2 Access Client, select an event to relate to the alarm or door sensor triggering.  Any event that has related video will now show a camera icon to the right of the Details column.

 

2.  Double-click on the camera icon to display a pop-up window view the related video.  Users can now use the Paxton Net2 Access Client and the DW Spectrum Client to review, capture, and export video from related events.
