When exporting video from your Server, it is recommended to use the DW Spectrum IPVMS Client to retrieve footage from the video archives. However, there may be circumstances when you are unable to use the desktop client to export video in this way. If necessary, there is an alternate method to export footage from a single camera, through a proxy cloud connection using a web browser.
This article will outline how to connect with the server using a Cloud ID and where to export footage using the web client.
Note: The connecting DW Cloud account must have a Cloud User profile with permissions to export footage. The downloaded file will be in .MKV format.
Note: The Server must be connected to DW Cloud to use this method. To learn how to assign your Server to your DW Cloud Account, please read DW Cloud Setup.
The Cloud System ID is a unique identifier (alphanumeric) that is generated for a System at the time that it is initially connected to DW Cloud. It is used for identifying resources and follows a standard format described in .
To locate the Cloud System ID:
Click on the System that you want the Cloud System ID from.
Note: Do not click on the Open in DW Spectrum button. This will prompt DW Spectrum Client to launch on your computer.
Example Cloud System ID: 1750d3ef-f2c5-4cf1-acef-255dc3b2197
Note: If you know the Server’s IP address information and are onsite, you may connect and log in with the DW Spectrum web client normally, instead of using a Cloud ID.
To export video using a proxy cloud connection:
URL Structure: https://<cloud_ID>.relay.vmsproxy.com
Click the View tab.
Use the Timeline to select the Start Time of the footage that you will be exporting. Pause the video playback once you have selected the starting point of the footage from the Timeline.
Set the Duration (sec) of the footage that you will be exporting. This will determine the overall length of the footage exported from the archive.
Select from either High (Primary Camera Stream) or Low (Secondary Camera Stream) to download the file.
The .MKV format file will save to the location your default browser is assigned to download files to.
